Each one of these problems affects the economic life-line-tourism in this amazing island. The local people in Bali are highly depends on the tourism area in their own place for 80% of their economic life.

We can see that the volcanic Mount Batur has erupted a few times and is still active until now. In 1917, the eruption has killed thousands of people and destroyed many temples in this island. In 1994, there were lava flowed for a month, which affects the agriculture and tourism in this island. The most recent eruption of this mountain was in 2000.

Then, there are two Islamic extremist bombings which was occurred in October 2002 and 2005. The first event has killed over 200 people in the tourist nightclub place in the area of Kuta. The second bombing killed 20 people and injured hundreds. Both diminished the tourism to the trickle of what it had been. But people are slowly returning to this Island of the Gods in order to sample its beauty and culture.

The Bali Tourist Board has been reported that the tourism of this island dropped to about a million in 2003 and 2006, which is also known as the years following the bombings incident, but it has doubled to almost two million in the year of 2008. The security was an issue of the post-bombings, but Bali’s beauty is a siren calls that everyone cannot close their eyes from.
